Somewhere in the life of your blog, you will want to switch hosting companies. Maybe you will find a hosting company that is cheaper, or faster, or more secure, and will want to switch from one to the other.
In my blogging history, I have switched hosting companies five or six times, and have helped many others bloggers do the same.
One of the most difficult things about switching hosting companies is migrating all of your content from one company to another. While this process is somewhat easier if both companies are using a back-end web hosting control panel like cPanel, you can still migrate from one company to another even if both companies are using different back-end control panels.
The basic steps are as follows:
- Download your WordPress files on the old host
- Download your MySQL Database on the hold host
- Upload your MySQL Database to the new host
- Upload your WordPress files to the new host
Doesn’t sound too tricky, right? Well, it can get tricky, which is why I created the following video. It shows some of the basic steps that are involved when migrating from one hosting company to another hosting company when both are using cPanel.
If one company or the other is not using cPanel, you will just have to figure out how to do the four steps above using the different options on your web hosting company.
And if you watch this video, and think that it is not really something you want to tackle on your own, I am willing to do the WordPress migration for you. Just fill out the form below to get started:
